Beach, Beach

I've not posted in nearly two weeks as little man and I have been back home visiting my folks, aka mad granny (her name for herself not mine!) and papa, in Cornwall. We had a fabulous time and someone was very very tired each night, infact we all were, my parents never seem to stop. We visited the beach lots, took the train from Truro to St Ives and then had pasties at Marizion and went on Papas boat. G can't manage to say grandpa yet so we have shortened it to papa. Now all he says is "okay papa" at every road junction to let him know it is ok to go. Whether it is or not is another matter!
When asked little man wanted to always go to the beach. At Gylly beach; we made faces in the sand out of granny's and G's feet, had a shop selling different types of seaweed and went rockpooling. We found a big crab, far too big for me as I don't like them, lots of blennies and shrimps. Hope you like the faces we made.

Ascot

Sally Carver or Red Hot Sal as she is otherwise known makes some gorgeous beads. She made these lovely ivory cored lampwork beads drizzled with silver and gold droplets and deeply encased in clear. They seemed to just be begging to be mixed with lots of Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls. This is a really delicate and different necklace for me, with two rows of beads interlinking at each handwired lampwork bead. The necklace was sold last week and with some of the beads I had left I made the matching earrings as well.
Morning Dew

Then, only a day after I had made the matching earrings another client came to me with a dress she had for Ascot week and wondered if I had any beads that would match. The dress was a lovely simple black dress with a gorgeous pale gold band of embelishment under the bust line. I had four of Red Hot Sals beads left from the set and here is the resulting bracelet.
Ascot

I used some pale topaz Swarovski crystals to bring out the gold colour in the dress. Freshwater pearls to compliment the lampwork and allow the bracelet to be worn with a classic pearl necklace or earrings and black faceted Czech rondelles to highlight the lampwork and bring in the black from the dress. I am really quite pleased with what I have acheived with this bracelet. I may not be going to Ascot, but at least my jewellery is - maybe next year for me. I hope the lady who bought this has a fantastic couple of days.

Mummy's Nuts

Don't you just love two year olds? For the past week, I've been detoxing for the last week and have been eating lots of fruit/veg and nuts. My little man keeps seeing my nuts and want some so I've been saying no they're mummy's nuts. Being the parrot that he is starting to become...every time he sees any nuts he says "mummy's nuts". Only thing is he also says it randomly at other times of the day - my inlaws think its hilarious.....its starting to wear a bit thin with me, I know I'm a bit off my rockers at times but even my own son has no cottoned on, I am beginning to think that there is no hope for me :)
My folks visited the end of last week. They were on their way home from camper vanning in Ireland. (I did try telling them Bracknell is not on the way between Ireland and Cornwall, but they wanted to see their grandson). So we did a couple of touristy things including seeing the changing of the guard at Windsor castle and a boat trip up the Thames. This photo was taken coming back down river - you kind of take it all for granted when you live near by.
On a beady note, this gorgeous bracelet is made using lampwork beads by Caroline Hannon, Sterling Silver and Karen Hill Tribe Silver beads. The beads are a lovely deep topaz base with natural toned frit on top. Hope you like.

The one that, thankfully, got away....

See, I have not got to the stage of imagining things just yet! This is my feathered visitor - he was a bit scary flapping around! Looking in my bird book, I have decided he is a sparrowhawk, but if I am wrong please do tell me.
On a much more interesting note in my book and much easier to handle, below are a couple of bracelets I have been making, the top one features beads by Isabelle Anderson, the colours in the lampwork are just stunning.
This second one features lampwork by Caroline Hannon, the picture doesn't really to the beads justice. They are a lovely opalescent creamy yellow core encased in clear, I called this bracelet chess as the colours remind me of the squares on a chess board. Very sorry though, if either take your fancy as they have just gone to a new home.

Flying Visitor

I finally finished my purple and green charm bracelet yesderady using Laura Sparlings beads. I know it has taken me ages, but I have been really busy doing other things this week. Firstly I had a sale on my website. I so need to shift some stock as I have lots of beads shouting to be used and nowhere to store the made jewellery.
Little man visited Nan and Grandad for a couple of days, which was a lovely break for me. It also meant I got to visit my friend and her 2 month old daughter, who is very cute. It also meant that hubby got some time to finally finish our patio - which is now looking lovely. Just now need the weather to enjoy it properly :)
Sunday we were all back home together, mowing the lawn and doing other things you do on a Sunday when little man needed a bum change. For some reason this had to be done on the conservatory floor, ask him not me! So there is me leaning over my son, no nappy on about to put on a clean one when.... flap flap flap. Into our conservatory flies a bird, but not just any bird.
Now a blackbird or maybe even a pigeon I could manage, but this was neither. No we were visited by a sparrowhawk! Yes a sparrowhawk spent a good couple of hours or so flapping around our conservatory crashing into the windows and pooing - lovely.
I can truely say that was the last thing I expected to happen yesterday!
