Boats, trains and seals

Apologies for the lack of posts from me recently, I have been home to Cornwall for a two week holiday with the little man. We have had a lovely time, its just a shame my BH had to come back after the first weekend as he didn't have enough holiday allowance left.
We visited lots of beaches and G spent hours literally picking up stones and throwing them into the sea, preferably the bigger the better and if it is embedded in the sand and is really hard to get at, its even better still! I am very lucky as my parents live between Truro and Falmouth and therefore have really easy access to both coasts. We also took him surfing at Porthtowan, which he loved - okay, he was only about knee deep but he is only 2 and a bit! A couple of trips out on papas boat, a visit to the seal sanctury and lots of icecream made for a very enjoyable holiday.
To endeavour to be a little more environmantally friendly and to save my BH almost a 10hr round trip I decided to brave the train coming home - it was an experience to say the least. First off, due to having no guard, my carefully selected train (no connections, shortest journey and as cheap as possible) was cancelled. I actually stood on the platform and watched it go through the station. The alternatives were a later train that would be a connecting one and would get me into Reading far too late for G's bedtime - I was already pushing it with the train I had originally booked or a taxi to Exeter and then I could get my original train as they had a guard at Exeter. Funnily enough I decided that an hour and a half in a taxi with wriggler boy and no car seat and then having to possibly miss the train at Exeter didn't really float my boat. So we stayed another night and caught the train the next morning......and that is another story, we had a run in with a very rude guard! Other than that the journey wasn't too bad, fidget bum didn't sit still and I did read Thomas about 10 times (I feel for the other passengers).
Would I do it again - probably, but I would again try to pick as shortest journey as possible.
Now I am back home I have a huge to do list for Beady Pool, not least give my award on that Ali gave me at the beginning of the month and photograph some of my new creations. Oh to have a few more hour in the day.

Drum Roll Please.....

Apologies for posting a bit later than I said I would, but I have been out helping my physics lab tech, from when I used to teach, celebrate her retirement. It was a lovely evening catching up with people I haven't seen in ages and also a bit scary as I realsied it is about 8 yrs since I started teaching and about 4 since I was last employed as a teacher! Where has all that time gone? It has just flown by.
Anyway onto the more important part of the evening. Drum roll please.......
And the winner is (as picked by my BH - thank you)......Pacific Peace, named by K Jacklin. Your bracelet is on its way to you tomorrow.
Thank you all for your super suggestions, I think I may have to do this again in a month or so. I really enjoyed reading all your ideas.

My First Award

Sometimes it is the simple things that really make your day, or that can turn a not so good day into a much better one. So, a big thank you so much to Ali at All about the beads for my first ever Blog award - it has really made my day:) You can have a read of her Blog here.
Here is my award:

Now, all I have to do is decide on 5 people to send the award onto......could be hard as I am new to this Blogging lark, but come back soon and see who I decide on.
In the meantime, thank you for all the suggestions of names for the charm bracelet. There have been some fantastic suggestions. Keep an eye out tomorrow for the name of the winner. I think it will be hard to choose - thank goodness it isn't my job. If you haven't made a suggestion yet or want to have another go, just post here or email me.

Beady Giveaway

I've had some time today to load up my photos (which it seems like I took ages ago LOL), name them and then add my prices to my excel spread sheet, blimey its exciting around here! Next step is to upload them all onto my website and onto Flickr. I am nearly up to date with Flickr, my plan is upload all my current photos and then as I make and take so to speak I will upload onto Flickr first - its a bit quicker than Mr Site who runs my website. However, I cannot complain as Mr Site has served me very well and has been a good (and cheap) introduction to having a webite.
Anyhows, I digress........finally I have uploaded the photo of the charm bracelet I made with the gorgeous teal beads decorated in fine lilac stringer which I bought from the very talented bead maker Laura Sparling - that lady must have such a steady hand! I told you about the bracelet ages and ages ago and here it is........

Have you noticed though, the glaring error?.........it has no name.
Its got to that time of the weekend when I have had a glass of red (yes just one this evening) and my brain has given up for the night. So, the solution I have decided, is to ask for your help.
Your task, if you wish to accept it is, to come up with a name for the charm bracelet I made with the lovely Laura's beads. Now, I would hate for you to be unrewarded for your efforts so, for the person who comes up with the best suggestion (and just so you don't all harass me for my decision I will get my BH to choose - poor chap) I will send them this very delicate bracelet made with lampwork beads by the talented Caroline Hannon (See below) to say a big thank you for their efforts. All you have to do is email me with your idea, or post below and the rest is up to him. I will get him to make a decision this Thursday (10th) evening and I will try to get the winning name on here by 10pm.

So, get your thinking caps on and see what you can come up with.
