Misty Moonlight

Finally we are slowly getting back into a routine in the Beady Pool household.
The now not so little man is at big school each morning, and is shattered but lovng it. This means I am getting a little more time to make and load some jewellery. Inbetween all the antenatal appointments which I seem to be having that is. Last week I had two lots of blood taken and a rather vicious anti-D injection - ouch!



On the jewellery front new from me is Misty Moonlight. Lampwork earrings in lushious lilac tones featuring artisan beads by Isabelle Anderson. Newly listed on Folksy.

Folksy Friday - Lampwork jewellery

I have a love for lampwork beads.

That is handmade, one of a kind artisan lampwork beads. Each one lovingly made from a rod of glass gently heated in a hot flame and coaxed into a bead, each one different, each one individual.

Beady Pool jewellery is mainly designed around these artisan beads with a good sprinkling of silver, stunning gemstones and quality glass beads. To celebrate Beady Pool's love of lampwork this weeks Folksy friday focuses on these handmade beads.

Damask

Remember those stunning signature artisan beads by Rebecca Weddell I showed you in the previous post? Those floral cerise beauties? Well here is what I have created using them.

Damask

I picked out the floral theme of the lampwork with a beautifully handmade Karen hilltribe Silver rose. Then I used ooodles of pink swarovski crystals and chunkier faceted rondelles in cerise pink to compliment the lampwork. These are interspersed with hilltribe silver tubes.

All finished with a hilltribe s-clasp and a handwired faceted crystal rondelle charm.
I am so pleased with how this has turned out and it's been nice making a necklace instead of a pendant for once.
Damask can be found in the Beady Pool folksy shop as can the complimenting Anemone earrings.

Well, if you haven't already guessed I am just a little bit pleased with my efforts from making beads with Laura Sparling last week. Typical me there was lots of blue glass being used :)

Oh and then I had a bit of a roll and made a set of fritties.....I can't wait to hold them in my hands and see how even they are in size as I kind of guessed that, but for a first attempt I think the girl did good. Now all I have to do is make some jewellery with them - at the moment that may take much longer than the bead making did!

So, the big question - do I want to make more lampwork beads. I would love to, but I think space and more importantly time are at a minimum at the moment. However, if anyone is willing to rent me time at the torch nearby I won't be saying no :)

Yesterday I had a fantastic day melting glass with the very talented Laura Sparling. I feel sorry for my hubby as I think I may be a little bit (just a little bit) hooked :) I had to laugh though, I came home and showed him one of Laura's cupcakes and all I got was "did you make that?" as if!

Pics to follow soon hopefully of some gorgeous frit beads - my flowers however leave a little to be desired but for a first time I think I did ok. As they say watch this blog.....

Scrummy

Well, I just had to have a go at making Laura's cookies - the looked so scrummy. Oh and they are. So much so that there will be no picture to show you my efforts. Hubby came home for lunch and took some back to the office. The others are ready for me to take to my friends this afternoon who has just had baby number two and if I don't leave them in the box.....well they may just get munched:). My mix ended up a bit wet, but a few more oats and we were fine - some mix never even made it into the oven LOL. Lets just say my son enjoyed licking the mixing spoon. I made the second oven batch a lot smaller, they are now just right for my son (and me I won't feel so guilty when I eat two!)

So, instead of a biccie pic, you will have to make do with this:

Off to look and not touch the biccies till I am at my friends, they will be even better with a good cuppa.

Back up and running

Just to let you know I have just finished tweaking my website and it is now back up and running after a break over Christmas. I have added some few new items and there are more to put on later in the week, I hope you like what you see.

I am also having a sale along with the rest of the country with up to 50% off selected jewellery.

I did a stock take of my lampwork beads over Christmas and lets just say I need some room :) I am hoping the sale with clear the way for my new stock.

I have more lampwork in my studio than I almost know what to do with, but that isn't stopping me looking at more LOL

Back up and running

Just to let you know I have just finished tweaking my website and it is now back up and running after a break over Christmas. I have added some few new items and there are more to put on later in the week, I hope you like what you see.

More hours in the day please

Where does the time go? When my son goes down for his afternoon nap I get about an hour to an hour and a half (I don't let him have more than that these days, else he isn't too good at bed time) to get my chores done. So, today with him asleep and lunch things tidied away - hubby is working from home today, so I did a proper lunch - not just a sandwich for little man and me eating on the go! I finally hit the computer. First off ordering hubby a new camera - he won't do it on his credit card in case of internet fraud, but for some reason it is okay to do it on mine. Now I know I have a smaller spending allowance, but surely if something was going to happen, it could happen to mine just as much as his?

With that done, I checked my emails, checked freecycle incase any moderating needed doing, checked a couple of lampwork sites incase a spending spree was needed (not that I need any more beads at the moment LOL, but a girl can look and be tempted!) and then was set to have my time.

That is time to update my website, blog or flickr and to ignore the housework which sesperately needs doing! First on my list was to photograph some jewellery I made recently. So outside I went as it is a bit dark inside and then it happened - big heavy drops of rain......so the plan changed as all the laundry needed to come in. I then took some photos and guess what, it is now sunny again aaarrggh, so I will pop out again in a moment and retake them if needs be, after I sort the laundry which was delicately placed on the conservatory floor, in other words slung!

In the meantime, before my son wakes - I have about 10 mins and counting! I thought I would show you this picture of a recent commission.

Really pants photo I know, but I suddenly remembered to photo it before I gave it to the person who ordered it. A simple design of black agate oval beads, snowflake obsidian and sterling silver spacers. I was really quite pleased with how it turned out and I think the person who bought it was as well.

Off to re-photograph my jewellery. Fingers crossed the rain holds off and G stays asleep. A few more hours in the day would be good.

Finally I have found a spare few minutes and have managed to upload the pics I took of the commission pieces. One of the lovely ladies who loves my jewellery bought some beads of her own and asked me to make up some bracelets and pendants for her. Below are the results - hope you like :)

These beads are so lovely, clear glass with blue ribbons through. I decided to bring out the blue and added faceted Czech rondelles and ridged silver beads.

Blue Strata - beads by Helen at Vammadopper

These are beautiful beads from Helen, a really natural central core edged in pale blue (my digital camera makes things so much bluer - sorry :)) and then encased in clear with matching round beads.

There was another set but I didn't manage to photograph them before they were whisked to their new home.

My website is down at the moment, I am trying to install payment by paypal...watch this space. In the meantime I will put new items here to keep you tempted.
